E-VOSS D.N.A. Keratin - How It Works

Keratin

Keratin is a naturally occurring protein, found in your hair. Your natural stores of keratin are depleted over time through styling, applying heat to your hair, and even environmental factors. It does not matter the type or texture of your hair, all hair is susceptible to losing its radiance over time.  As such, keratin treatments and products are a widely accepted way to restore beauty and shine to your hair.

How Does Keratin Work?

Since keratin is naturally found in the hair, skin, and nails, it is what provides sheen and health. As it depletes, the only thing you can do is make sure you’re eating a diet rich in the amino acids (building blocks of protein) that your body needs to replenish your keratin stores. Using hair and skin care products fortified with keratin, or turning to a salon keratin treatment can help fill in dietary gaps to ensure your hair is healthy and easy to manage at all times.

What Products Contain Keratin

You can find keratin in:

  • Shampoo
  • Conditioners
  • Leave-on treatments
  • Overnight treatments
  • Straightening Treatments

You can find keratin in three E-VOSS product lines: the Keratin Plus™ Garlic Treatment, the Keratin Plus™ Daily Treatment System, and the Keratin Plus™ Straight and Smooth System. The Garlic Treatment products include keratin and garlic to strengthen your hair while promoting additional growth. The Daily Treatment System product line is designed provide shampoos, conditioners, and leave-on treatments for your hair, with special products for those who have color treated hair and want to protect the color from fading.

As the Straight and Smooth system must be applied by a professional cosmetologist, it is not available to the general public. To order this product, you must be able to provide a copy of your state board cosmetology license.

If you use one of these treatments, the keratin product is applied to your hair, and sealed in with a heat application. The process can take an hour and a half, possibly longer, depending on how long your hair is. You will have a period of time, usually three to four days, where you cannot wash your hair, to allow the treatment to really start working on the hair. If you wash your hair before then, you are pretty much negating the effects of the treatment, and wasting the money you spent.

To maintain your keratin treatment, use a sulfate and sodium free shampoo and conditioner. The products in our line are safe to use on keratin treated hair, and will help replenish your keratin stores The results of the treatment should last up to two and a half months.

These straightening treatments do not use chemicals to break the bonds of your hair, and will instead fill in the bonds of your hair, resulting in stronger, easier to style, frizz free hair. If you do experience breakage after the treatment, it is a result of the heat used to apply and seal in the treatment; some cosmetologists will use an iron that is too hot. Though it is a more restorative treatment, anyone can benefit from it.
