How to Protect and Repair Colored Hair

So you’ve decided to change your hair color. Before you take the plunge, make sure you are aware of how to get the shade you want, and maintain your hair’s well being:

  • Always go to a professional, especially if it’s your first time coloring your hair. Many boxed dyes are full of harmful chemicals. Note that ammonia-free and oil-based dyes can still contain peroxide.
  • Try a semi-permanent dye if you want to go with a similar shade to your current hair, without drastically changing the color. This is a good option for those who want a subtle change, without having to worry about excessive damage.
  • Don’t wash your hair a day or so before coloring, so that your hair and scalp and retain their natural oils. This will protect your hair from the harsh chemicals.
  • Separate your coloring sessions if you are planning on a drastic change, especially if you are bleaching your hair significantly. This will ensure you hair does not become brittle and dry right after coloring.

If your hair is already damaged, it’s not too late to reverse the damage. Be patient; once your hair starts growing in, you can start trimming away the damaged ends.

In the meantime, try a nourishing hair treatment such as E-VOSS Argan Oil treatment. Argan Oil is a great way to condition and moisturize dry, damaged hair while protecting it from UV damage. The entire E-VOSS Argan Oil line will help repair your hair and bring it back to life!
